Aiyana Jones -- More Police Lies & Crimes & Cover Up; More Reasons for REVOLUTION!

This morning Democracy Now reported:

"the Detroit News has revealed the officer involved in the shooting, Joseph Weekley, was accused in a 2009 federal lawsuit of being part of a team that broke into a home, shot two dogs and pointed a pistol at children, including an infant."

So, now it is revealed that the police officer who was "involved in the shooting" of 7 year old Aiyana Jones in her own home while she slept had previously broken into a home, shot two dogs and pointed his gun at children -- INCLUDING AN INFANT!

What does it say that this man was still on the police force? Does that sound like one of those "bad apples"? Is it really possible that his superiors ascribe any value to the lives of those his force terrorizes if they let this man continue to carry out no-knock raids on people's homes -- including homes where there were children?

And what about the fact that there were multiple police on the scene. What does it tell ALL OF THEM went along with not only arresting and detaining Aiyana's family, but also that none of them spoke up when the police LIED about how the gun went off and blamed it on a "scuffle" with Aiyana's grandmother, Mertilla?



From the reports this morning -- not only did they arrest and detain Mertilla after forcing her to watch her grandbaby die and not be able to reach out and hold her. They put her in CHAINS!

Yes, read that again: they put Mertilla in CHAINS and transported her to the hospital for a drug test.

WHO CHAINS UP A GRIEVING GRANDMOTHER AFTER KILLING HER GRANDCHILD?

WHO LEAVES A COP WHO HAS POINTED GUNS AT AN INFANT AND OTHER CHILDREN ON THE POLICE FORCE?

WHO IS NOW TELLING US TO "WAIT UNTIL ALL THE EVIDENCE IS SIFTED THROUGH" WHILE THEY THEMSELVES ARE REFUSING TO RELEASE THE VIDEO TAPES THAT THEY HAD COMMISSIONED TO FILM THIS ENTIRE INCIDENT?

WHO IS TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THE FACT THAT THESE TAPES HAVE NOT BEEN RELEASED TO SPREAD LIES -- AND TO ASSASSINATE THE CHARACTER OF A DEAD SEVEN YEAR OLD'S GRANDMOTHER -- IN ORDER TO LET THEIR KILLER COPS OFF THE HOOK YET AGAIN?

The deeper you get into this case, the more it reveals a ruthless and completely illegitimate set up. A system -- and its institutional structures -- which care NOTHING for human lives, particularly Black lives. The more you see something that could have been prevented. That was senseless to begin with. But all the way up and all the way down, "protecting and defending" the oppressed people has nothing to do with what they are there for.

So, don't let anyone tell you that it was just the accident of one guy. There is a whole blue wall that has unleashed this kind of killer and is already working to protect and defend his murderous actions.

And don't let anyone tell you that this is just in one city. Remember Sean Bell -- shot on his wedding day. Remember Anthony Rosario and Hilton Vega -- shot while lying face down on the ground begging police to let them live. Remember Oscar Grant -- shot on New Year's Day last year on a train platform while a hundred some people watched and even filmed it... and STILL NO JUSTICE. Think of Malcolm Ferguson -- shot by police at close range in a Bronx stairwell just five days after he was arrested as part of protests against the acquittal of the cops who shot Amadou Diallo in his own doorway. Think of Amadou Diallo -- much like Aiyana and her family -- shot in his own home for NOTHING.

And consider this -- in all of those cases, the police lied and tried to protect their own. In all of those cases, the state prosecutor all of a sudden forget how to prosecute. And, in all those cases, the police not only did their dirty killing -- they also went after the parents and family.

Margarita Rosario -- the mother of Anthony Rosario and aunt of Hilton Vega -- reported that she used to get prank phone calls taunting her on Mother's Day and when she traced the calls they went back to the police precinct associated with her son and nephew's deaths.

Sean Bell's friends -- one of whom had also been shot and badly injured and none of whom had any guns or had committed any criminal acts -- and arrested and detained them. One was handcuffed while in the hospital. The projects where some of them lived were then raided repeatedly by police who busted down doors and terrorized and tried to intimidate anyone who might come forward as a witness.

Juanita Young -- mother of Malcolm Ferguson -- has been so consistently harrassed that she has had to move repeatedly (including because police have put pressure on her landlords) and just this past summer, during a cook-out in her own home the police busted down her door, literally tore it off its hinges, and brutalized most of her family and arrested her other son. They told her daughter to put down her infant baby and then tore her shirt off her and groped her breasts.

Now they take the life of a seven year old girl. Aiyana Jones. No more!
